The Faculty of Islamic Science holds its sixth annual and second international conference

Under the auspices of the holy Hussein shrine management and the presidency of the University of Karbala, the Colleges of Islamic Science at Karbala and Warith Al-Anbia’ universities hold the sixth annual and second international conference entitled ” modernity issues in Islamic sciences, theory and procedure” under the slogan “Islam is life” on Tuesday and Wednesday, 12-13/3/2019 at 9 am and at the Senhoury Hall at the Faculty of Law. The conference was attended by researchers from Iraqi, Arab and foreign universities.

Some 70 research papers related to the conference were discussed and distributed on five research sessions. The opening session was attended by Dr. Mounir Hameed Al-Saadi, the president of the University of Karbala, his scientific and administrative assistants, members of the House of Representatives, Dr. Hassan Al-Masoudi, Dr. Riyad Al-Masoudi and other personalities including representatives of religious institutions and authorities, members of the provincial council, deans of colleges and university professors. The conference included reading verses from the Holy Quran, the national anthem, standing to read Surat Al-Fatihah on the souls of martyrs and the late great authorities and religious scholars and religious themes. The proceedings started with a speech given by the Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Science – Karbala University Assistant Professor Dr. Jassim Abdul Wahid to welcome the delegations and attendance followed by the speech of the President of the University and another one by Dr. Hassan Masoudi MP.

Later, a lecture was delivered by Mr. Hussein Bahr al-Ulum on “Islam leads life” and shields were awarded to the participants.
On the second day, the activities were resumed at the University of Warith Al-Anbia’.They included running a workshop on human development and the distribution of certificates and gifts to researchers. It is worth noting that the Conference has concluded its proceedings with some recommendations, most notably:

  • Applying the Quranic approach as a guideline and adopting it in our curriculums.
  • Directing visions and concepts through the adoption of a moderate Islamic humanistic discourse on the approach of the Koran and Sunnah.
  • The demand for rapprochement between religions and sects by containing everyone under the umbrella of unity and peaceful coexistence.
