The College of Islamic Sciences participated in the “Creative Youth” (Al-Fata Al-Mubdi’) competition for promising student talents, organized by the General Secretariat of the Shrine of Alawiya Sharifa bint Imam al-Hassan during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

The college’s participation involved several faculty members serving on the judging committee, including a distinguished group from the Department of Arabic Language: Professor Dr. Hazem Fadel Al-Baraz, Professor Dr. Saeed Hameed Kadhim, Professor Dr. Ali Mohammed Yassin, and Assistant Professor Dr. Khalid Abdul-Nabi Al-Asadi.

Additionally, Assistant Lecturer Mustafa Ghazi contributed to organizing the event, managing the competition held within the precincts of the Shrine of Alawiya Sharifa bint Imam al-Hassan, which spanned two consecutive days.

The competition aims to support creative student talents and encourage the development of their scientific and cultural capabilities, while enhancing the blessed Ramadan atmosphere through a spirit of cognitive and creative competition among the participating students.

Thamer Al-Furtusi, a student from the College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Karbala, took part in the resumption of the daily recited Qur’anic khatmah organized by the Scientific Complex of the Holy Qur’an at the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine, represented by the Qur’anic Projects Center. The event was held in the courtyard of the holy shrine after a suspension of more than three months.

The resumption opened with the recitation of the first part of the Holy Qur’an, featuring a group of distinguished reciters from the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine, including Qari’ Karar Al-Mayyahi, Qari’ Hussein Al-Hijjar, Qari’ Baqir Bayan, and Qari’ Ali Al-Murtada.

The participation of student Thamer Al-Furtusi reflects the continuous presence of the college’s students in national and religious Qur’anic activities, emphasizing the strong connection between academic institutions and religious centers, while also showcasing the talents of young Qur’anic reciters.

The Dean of the College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Karbala, Professor Dr. Mohammed Hussein Aboud Al-Taie, accompanied by the College’s Administrative Assistant, Dr. Sadiq Abbas Rahi, participated in the opening ceremony of the Second Public Festival commemorating the Fatwa of Defending the Homeland. The event took place in a solemn atmosphere and was attended by a wide array of officials and members of the public.

This festival aims to honor the historic fatwa issued by the Supreme Religious Authority, which called on Iraqis to defend their country and sacred sites. The fatwa marked a pivotal moment in Iraq’s modern history, symbolizing sacrifice, national unity, and steadfastness in the face of challenges.

Professor Dr. Dirgham Kareem Kadhim Al-Mousawi—author, literary scholar, and faculty member at the College of Islamic Sciences—has donated a copy of his newly published book titled Al-Tuhfa Al-Fanniyya fi Al-Huroof Al-‘Amila wa Ghayr Al-‘Amila (The Artistic Gift on Governing and Non-Governing Particles) to the college’s deanery. This initiative aims to enrich the college library with the distinguished academic contributions of its faculty.

The donation comes as part of ongoing efforts to support scientific and intellectual activity within the college and to reaffirm the importance of academic contributions in strengthening research and scholarly study.
