Under the slogan “Towards Increasing Green Spaces within the University Campus and Providing a Healthy and Clean Environment,” the Agricultural Unit of the College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Karbala, in collaboration with the evening shift students of the first stage, carried out a campaign to rehabilitate, plant, and maintain the college gardens. The campaign aimed to promote a culture of care, environmental awareness, and health.

Engineer Mohammed Al-Nasrawi, the head of the Agricultural Unit, mentioned that the campaign aimed to provide and expand green spaces to create suitable atmospheres within the college. Al-Nasrawi added that the voluntary activities adopted by the college can reshape students’ relationship with the college, enhance their abilities, and motivate them to protect and preserve the achievements in which they have participated.

The campaign included planting Jacaranda trees, which are tropical trees recently introduced to Iraq. These trees are known for their ability to tolerate high temperatures and resist soil salinity. Moreover, they are large shade trees that play a significant role in preserving the ecological balance due to their ability to grow in harsh climatic conditions.
