The Department of Quranic Sciences and Islamic Education at the College of Islamic Sciences, University of Karbala, organized a commemorative festival titled “Qutb al-Rahah” on the occasion of the martyrdom of Lady Fatimah Zahra (peace be upon her). The festival took place at 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 21, 2023, in the Imam Hussein Hall at the college.
The festival aimed to honor the memory of our Lady and Mistress Fatimah Zahra (peace be upon her) and shed light on the stages of her life, her oppression, and her sufferings. The event began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and the recitation of Surah Al-Fatiha for the souls of the righteous martyrs. This was followed by a speech delivered by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Muslim Malik Al-Asadi, and a speech by the Head of the Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Nazim Al-Mufarji. They spoke about the vibrant life of Lady Zahra and her struggles and tragedies, as well as her noble virtues that made her an exemplary role model for all women.
The festival continued with participants delivering speeches, reciting poems, expressing their love and reverence for the Mother of her Father, the Lady of all Women, Fatimah Zahra (peace be upon her). Additionally, there were discussions on various Fatimid topics, addressing misconceptions and providing responses, as well as theatrical performances highlighting her chastity and devotion.
The commemorative festival concluded with the announcement of the correct answers to the pre-announced online competition, followed by the announcement and honoring of the winners.
