Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Islamic Sciences, Professor Dr. Mohammed Hussein Aboud Al-Taie, and under the supervision of the Head of the Arabic Language Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Hamed Shahab, the department held its annual festival on the occasion of the International Day of the Arabic Language, which falls on December 18th of each year.
The festival took place at the Imam Hussein (AS) Hall on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at 10:00 AM.
Aimed at supporting and enhancing the presence of the Arabic language, highlighting its importance, depth, and enrichment to global culture, and emphasizing its role in the cultural and linguistic development of nations, contributing to human understanding among peoples.
The Arabic Language Department at the College of Islamic Sciences organized a celebration in honor of the International Day of the Arabic Language.
The festival, hosted by the teaching supervisor in the Department of Jurisprudence and its Principles, Professor Khaled Abdul Nabi, included various activities and events. It began with verses from the Quran, followed by a speech from the Scientific Assistant Professor Dr. Muslim Al-Asadi, emphasizing the importance of the Arabic language for various reasons, as it is the root of our identity and the foundation of our heritage. Then, a speech was delivered by the Head of the Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Hamed Shahab, shedding light on the richness of the Arabic language and its ability to express diverse intellectual patterns.
Poetry recitations were presented on this occasion by Professor Dr. Amjad Al-Fadhil, Assistant Professor Dr. Mashkur Al-Talqani, and Assistant Professor Dr. Safaa Hussein Latif. The poems celebrated the love for the Arabic language and showcased the majesty and brilliance of Arabic.
The celebration, attended by the academic and administrative assistant of the college, included student participation, as well as artistic displays and presentations of students’ creations under the supervision of department professors. The festival concluded with the distribution of certificates of appreciation and shields to the participating professors and students.
