The College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Karbala held a defense of the Master’s thesis titled “The Letters of the Imams, Peace Be Upon Them, and Their Impact on Deriving Islamic Jurisprudence” by the student Mariam Abdul Hassan Abdul Rasoul, in the Al-Sadiq Al-Ameen (AS) Hall at the college.
The significance of the topic lies in the connection between the science of Hadith and the science of jurisprudence, which is of great importance. When the infallible Imam is asked about a legal issue, whether in worship or transactions, the answer to this legal issue is in the form of correspondence between the Imam and the questioner. The Imam, peace be upon him, writes the answer to the question in his blessed handwriting, giving the legal ruling on this issue.
Among the most important findings was that the letters of the Imams, peace be upon them, were consistent in terms of purpose and truthfulness, as they came from the same source, the Prophet’s household, and the origin of the message. Understanding the rulings in these letters helps the researcher to understand the purposes of Sharia, its secrets, and its general goals, as they clarify the intricacies and details of matters.
