The Agricultural Unit at the College of Islamic Sciences, University of Karbala, launched a wide-scale afforestation campaign for the college’s gardens on the occasion of National Afforestation Day, under the slogan ‘Let’s Turn the Desert into a Green Oasis.’

The campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of preserving vegetation, increasing green areas, and enhancing the aesthetic value of the college environment. It included planting various types of seedlings, flowers, and palm trees.

It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has designated March 12th as ‘National Afforestation Day,’ coinciding with the initiative to plant five million trees and palm trees launched by the Iraqi Prime Minister, Engineer Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani, to combat desertification.
