The College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Karbala conducted the defense of a doctoral thesis entitled “Illumination of Facilitation and Revelation of Scrutiny: From the Introductions of Interpretation to the End of Verse (34) of Surah Al-Baqarah – A Verification Study” by the student Mazen Hamoud Maturud. The defense took place in the Imam Hussein Hall within the college premises.
The significance of the topic stems from the esteemed position of the Quran and its sciences and interpretations, as it represents the noblest and highest of sciences, receiving utmost care and preference. The science of interpretation is highlighted, along with the corpus of interpretive narrations from the Imams of the Ahl al-Bayt.
The researcher noted several reasons that led to the study and verification of this manuscript, “Illumination of Facilitation and Revelation of Scrutiny.” Firstly, the manuscript had not previously been brought to light and remained confined to library shelves. Additionally, the manuscript contained interpretive narrations attributed to the Imams of the Ahl al-Bayt.
The thesis aimed to contribute to showcasing the efforts of past scholars in interpreting the Quran, allowing subsequent generations to appreciate their significant contributions in elucidating the divine intent. Furthermore, it aimed to engage in research and present our heritage by producing doctoral theses, despite the toil and effort involved, adding to the cumulative knowledge in Quranic sciences and interpretation not covered by other theses focusing on different aspects.
