A PhD dissertation titled “Levels of Understanding the Quranic Text According to the Intellectual Paradigm” was discussed at the Faculty of Islamic Sciences at the University of Karbala. The dissertation was presented by the student Shaimaa Hamza Jabr in the Imam Hussein (PBUH) Hall at the faculty.
The dissertation aimed to shed light on a Western term, “paradigm,” which has been Arabized and translated as “intellectual paradigm.” It explored the intellectual models of Quranic interpreters through a deep critical study that examined the tools, directions, and rules that assist interpreters, which together lead to the concept of multiple levels of understanding among interpreters. This, in turn, produced interpretative intellectual paradigms, highlighting both the optimal and the anomalous interpretative intellectual paradigms.
It is worth noting that this study is the first of its kind in Iraqi universities and was awarded an “Excellent” grade with the dissertation being accepted “as is.”
