The College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Karbala discussed a doctoral thesis titled “Tuhfat Al-Ridha by Sayyid Muhammad bin Abi Al-Hasan Al-Mousawi: A Study and Verification,” presented by student Abbas Nabhan Mohan.
This study aims to highlight the efforts of Imami jurists in the field of analytical jurisprudence, examining their significant contributions by delving into their heritage and writings. The chosen focus is the study and verification of the manuscript “Tuhfat Al-Ridha” by Sayyid Ma’zz al-Din Muhammad bin Abi Al-Hasan Al-Mousawi, a prominent figure of the 11th century Hijri.
The study concluded that the manuscript “Tuhfat Al-Ridha” is a valuable juristic work related to one of the branches of religion—(prayer)—organized into twelve chapters. It presents issues agreed upon by jurists along with their evidence, while also addressing points of disagreement among jurists and discussing their arguments, ultimately leaning towards the positions he supports. This makes the juristic work both significant and highly beneficial.
