The College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Karbala held a public defense for the master’s thesis titled The Use of Qur’anic Stories in Modern Arabic Novels: Simon the Egyptian by Osama Al-Shadhli as an Example by student Rusul Zahir Farhan.

The study aimed to answer a significant question: to what extent did the novel effectively utilize artistic techniques and mechanisms in its adaptation of Qur’anic stories?

The thesis concluded with several findings, including that the use of Qur’anic stories was executed with a high level of technical skill. This highlighted the author’s distinctive style and extensive knowledge of regional historical conflicts, positioning the novel within the realm of Arab literary experimentation, despite its historical nature.
