Study at the College of Islamic Sciences Discusses Governing Principles on Contemporary Issues

The College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Karbala discussed a doctoral dissertation titled Governing Principles on Contemporary Issues: A Foundational Study in a session held at Imam Hussein Hall.

Researcher Enas Karim Raji Ibrahim highlighted in her dissertation that ijtihad (Islamic jurisprudential reasoning) serves as a vital link between the fixed rulings of Sharia and the evolving changes of modern times. This connection allows Sharia to address contemporary developments by enabling scholars to derive new legal rulings from general principles and overarching texts. Consequently, determining rulings based on these generalities is seen as an important aspect of the practice of ijtihad.
