The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Islamic Sciences, University of Karbala, organized an awareness seminar titled “Extremist Thought and Atheism and Their Negative Impact on Society”. The seminar targeted third-year students from the Department of Jurisprudence and Fundamentals.
Dr. Nahida Jalil Al-Ghali, Women’s Affairs Unit liaison, participated in the seminar, discussing contemporary issues posed by extremism and atheism. She highlighted that these phenomena stem from factors such as ideological rigidity and religious intolerance. Al-Ghali explained the distinction between extremist and atheistic thought, noting that a primary cause is ignorance of the objectives of Islamic law, along with misinterpretation, bias, and refusal to consider differing opinions. She emphasized that proponents of such ideologies often resort to violence to impose their views.
The seminar concluded with recommendations, urging students to resist extremist ideas and adhere to the noble principles of Islamic law.
