The College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Karbala held a workshop titled Mastering Academic Writing: From Research to Dissertation, presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Nada Hussein Fahmi Al-Khuzraji.
The workshop aimed to shed light on the principles of proper academic writing, starting from gathering sources to drafting scientific theses. It included several key topics, such as:
- Defining the Research Topic and Formulating the Research Problem: Emphasis was placed on clearly identifying the topic and crafting a primary research question or issue.
- Utilizing Academic Databases: Participants were introduced to a selection of reliable databases for gathering sources across disciplines.
The workshop also focused on organizing scientific theses by understanding traditional and contemporary models for master’s and doctoral dissertations. It provided a detailed explanation of thesis structure, including: the introduction, literature review, methodology, results, discussion, and conclusion.
The workshop was attended by 58 graduate students from various departments of Karbala University, out of 100 who had registered on the Ministry’s workshop site (ASDPS).
