The College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Karbala extends its heartfelt congratulations and blessings to the Imam of the Age (may Allah hasten his reappearance), our esteemed scholars, and the entire Islamic nation on the occasion of the birth of Imam Muhammad al-Jawad (peace be upon him).

“How abundant the blessings that have engulfed the lands,
And today, generosity has reached its pinnacle.”

“Forty years passed by with longing in Al-Ridha,
Until he saw the moon of Al-Jawad.”

With hearts full of joy, we congratulate the Messenger of Allah Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his pure household (peace be upon them), the Awaited Imam (may Allah hasten his reappearance), our respected scholars, and the Islamic nation on this blessed occasion. We pray to Allah Almighty to hasten the reappearance of our Imam so that we may revive the rituals of the Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them) under his auspicious presence.

The Shia community eagerly awaited the birth of Imam Al-Jawad (peace be upon him) from his father, Imam Al-Ridha (peace be upon him), as they were aware of its significance. However, Imam Al-Ridha (peace be upon him) had reached over forty years of age without being blessed with a child. When questioned, he would reply, “Allah will grant me a son who will be my successor and the Imam after me.” Finally, in the year 195 AH, Imam Muhammad Al-Jawad (peace be upon him) was born. Upon his birth, Imam Al-Ridha (peace be upon him) remarked: “A son has been born to me who resembles Moses, the splitter of seas, and Jesus, the son of Mary. Blessed is the mother who bore him, who was created pure and purified.”

The birth of Imam Al-Jawad (peace be upon him) alleviated the concerns of the Shia, as they were troubled by the thought of Imam Al-Ridha (peace be upon him) having no successor. Imam Al-Ridha (peace be upon him) also said about his son Imam Al-Jawad:
“This newborn is unparalleled in Islam. No other child has brought greater blessings upon our Shia than him.”
