The College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Karbala held a PhD dissertation defense for researcher Hassan Faleh Jabr, titled “Communicative Miraculousness in the Holy Quran – A Foundational Study.” The dissertation explores one of the aspects of Quranic miraculousness from the perspective of modern communication theories.
The study aims to establish a theoretical foundation for communicative miraculousness in the Quran, highlighting the mechanisms employed by the Quranic text to achieve effective communication with its audience. This contributes to fulfilling the Quran’s ultimate purpose—guidance and persuasion of its recipients.
The research’s significance lies in analyzing the communicative process within the Quranic text, considering it a miraculous discourse capable of engaging with audiences across different eras. This makes the Quran a unique model of divine communication based on influence and persuasion.
