The College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Karbala Celebrates the Birth of Sayyida Zainab (peace be upon her)

Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Islamic Sciences, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Hussein Aboud Al-Taee, the Media and Government Communications Division, in cooperation with the Islamic Rites and Religious Occasions Unit, organized a joyful celebration marking the birth anniversary of Sayyida Zainab al-Kubra (peace be upon her), under the title:

“From the Light of Kawthar Blossomed Zainab (peace be upon her).”

The celebration was held in the Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) Hall and began with a blessed recitation from the Holy Qur’an, followed by an opening speech by the Dean, who welcomed the attendees and emphasized that Sayyida Zainab (peace be upon her) represents a symbol of steadfastness, faith, and courage. He urged students to draw inspiration from her luminous life in patience, sacrifice, and devotion.

The event, presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Khalid Al-Asadi, included a documentary film about the occasion and a lecture delivered by Dr. Ibrahim Al-Ashtar, who discussed the missionary and leadership role of Sayyida Zainab (peace be upon her) in preserving the principles of Islam after the tragedy of Karbala.

The celebration also featured a poetic performance praising the virtues and eternal stance of Sayyida Zainab (peace be upon her), along with cultural student presentations expressing their love for Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them). Intellectual and religious competitions were also held, with prizes and certificates of appreciation distributed to the participants.

The event aimed to deepen students’ religious and intellectual awareness, to draw lessons from the life of Sayyida Zainab al-Kubra (peace be upon her) in patience and perseverance upon truth, and to strengthen the spirit of belonging and adherence to authentic Islamic values.

This celebration is part of the series of cultural activities regularly organized by the College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Karbala, in commemoration of religious occasions, reaffirming the university’s mission of integrating faith with knowledge and cultivating a generation that embodies the principles of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) in thought and conduct.
