Under the patronage of the President of the University of Karbala, Professor Dr. Basim Khaleel Nael Al-Saadi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Islamic Sciences, Professor Dr. Mohammed Hussein Aboud Al-Ta’i, the Committee for the Revival of Islamic Rituals at the college organized its festival titled “Your Cloak is More Precious Than My Blood, the Will of a Martyr,” in collaboration with the Al-Marja Foundation for Knowledge and Religion.
The festival aimed to commemorate the anniversary of the passing of the Mountain of Patience, the noble lady Zainab bint Amir al-Mu’minin, peace be upon her. It took place at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 29, 2024, at the Al-Sanhoury Hall in the College of Law.
The festival aimed to encourage female students to wear the Zainabi cloak and observe modesty and hijab. It also aimed to support and motivate modestly dressed students to maintain the legitimate dress code in the face of challenges that seek to undermine hijab and distort its image imposed by the sacred street. The festival aimed to promote the culture of the legitimate hijab and firmly establish it within the university community, drawing inspiration from the memory of the pride of the oppressed, Lady Zainab, peace be upon her.
The festival began with the recitation of clear verses from the Holy Quran by the reciter Wisam Jassib. This was followed by a speech by the dean of the college, emphasizing the importance of establishing Islamic values and principles by presenting a model of modest dress and its role in preserving the identity of believing women in Muslim society. A lecture was then delivered by Sheikh Abdul Hadi Al-Zaidi, in which he highlighted the importance of a greater number of university female students adhering to modest dress, which is part ofthe religious obligations and authentic social customs that reflect the chastity and modesty of Muslim women.
The festival concluded with an artistic segment, where a student painted on a canvas during the festival activities, and the students were honored.
