The Department of Quranic Sciences and Islamic Education at the College of Islamic Sciences, University of Karbala, held a workshop titled “Researching Quranic Terms – The Example of Al-Kitab Al-Mubeen (The Clear Book).” The workshop was presented by Assistant Lecturer Hasan Abdulhadi Rashid, with participation from faculty members and students.

The workshop aimed to clarify the concept of Quranic terminology, its significance in doctrinal and jurisprudential structures, and its impact on the general understanding of the Quran. It also shed light on the challenges of synonymy and shared meanings, which can create confusion in employing Quranic concepts, resulting in the loss of specificity in terms.

The presenter provided an example using the term “Al-Kitab Al-Mubeen” (The Clear Book). He highlighted how some interpreters used synonymous or overlapping terms, causing the loss of the term’s distinct identity and impacting the course and focus of research in Quranic studies.

The workshop concluded with an interactive session where professors and students contributed through discussions and questions, enriching the discourse.
