The Department of Arabic Language at the College of Islamic Sciences, University of Karbala, organized a scientific seminar on “Quranic Syntax and the Problem of Terminology.”
The seminar was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Khalid Abbas Al-Sayyab, a Professor of Syntax at the University of Karbala, College of Education for Humanities, Department of Arabic Language. The seminar was chaired by Assistant Professor Dr. Sarmad Adel Saheb Harbi, Professor of Phonetics and Morphology at the College of Islamic Sciences, University of Karbala.
The seminar aimed to explore a key issue that has multiple conflicting perspectives, without a definitive resolution, yet striving to formulate it into a theoretical structure with interconnected hypotheses.
The issue highlighted by the lecturer was divided into two parts: the first investigates the formation of the compound term “Quranic Syntax,” and the second rejects the division of syntax into general Arabic syntax and specific Quranic syntax. The speaker provided a number of scientific justifications for this argument, open for discussion.
The seminar witnessed significant interaction from both faculty members and students, with many discussions and questions raised, contributing to the broadening of research horizons in this important field.
