The College of Islamic Sciences Organizes a Specialized Scientific Course Entitled “Rules of Numbers and Counted Nouns”
The College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Karbala organized a specialized scientific course entitled “Rules of Numbers and Counted Nouns,” delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Mujeeb Saad, Lecturer Dr. Essam Al-Masoudi, and Assistant Lecturer Basim Jabbar. The course is part of a series of developmental programs aimed at enhancing participants’ linguistic proficiency.
The lecturers emphasized the importance of mastering the rules governing numbers and counted nouns due to their vital role in ensuring the accuracy of language usage, particularly in official documents, educational curricula, academic research, and university theses. Proficiency in these rules is considered essential for correct expression, both in writing and speech.
The course covered the various types of numbers in terms of agreement or disagreement with the counted noun, as well as their forms (simple, compound) and grammatical states (construct, dual-construction with both parts in the accusative, and specification by tamyiz). The rules were illustrated with examples from proverbs, poetry, and Quranic verses, highlighting the linguistic meanings that emerge from them.
At the conclusion of the course, an assessment was conducted for the participants. The answer sheets were graded, and it was announced that all participants had passed the course, reflecting the achievement of its intended goals.
