In line with the vision of the University of Karbala to serve the community and its institutions, the College of Islamic Sciences has commenced the second phase of its planned activities. It organized a panel discussion for educational counselors in the presence of the Assistant to the University President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Najm Abdul-Hussein Al-Janabi, the Dean of the College, Dr. Mohammed Hussein Aboud Al-Taie, the Administrative Assistant, Dr. Sadiq Abbas Al-Hasnawi, and the Supervisor of the Guidance Unit in the Directorate of Education.
The panel discussion covered several topics, including the role of educational counseling in shaping the moral and ethical system of students. It emphasized the importance of continuous collaboration and communication between schools and universities to enhance counseling work and provide guidance services that meet the needs of students and satisfy the expectations of parents, as educational counseling is a societal responsibility.
The second topic highlighted the significance of such meetings and the need to utilize them effectively to achieve the objectives of counseling work. The challenges faced by educational counselors were discussed in order to present them to specialists at the university for study and provide effective solutions. The identified issues will be addressed in the upcoming meeting with the counselors.
Agreements were made with the educational counselors regarding several topics that will be presented in the next meeting, including the diagnosis, causes, and treatments of autism spectrum disorders, as well as other behavioral problems. Specialists in these areas will be invited to share their expertise.
Dr. Hassan Al-Judaili, the responsible person for the Continuing Education Unit in the college, stated that the program will continue throughout the academic year, with one day dedicated to it every month. It will include diverse programs and activities that cater to the needs of educational counselors. These activities may include presenting international experiences in educational counseling, sharing experiences of university students regarding counseling services, and presenting the results of survey studies. These efforts aim to assist educational counselors in forming a comprehensive understanding of the counseling landscape.
At the end of the meeting, the educational counselors expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the college for organizing the panel discussion. They emphasized the importance of its continuity and its role in developing counseling work in the schools of the province.
