A thesis defense titled “Linguistic Investigations in the Explanation of Ghareeb al-Quran by Sheikh Qasim ibn Sheikh Hassan Muhyiddin (1376 AH)” was held at the College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Karbala. The student, Amal Abdulmohsen Tayeh, presented her doctoral thesis in the Imam Hussein (AS) Hall at the college.

The study consisted of four chapters, preceded by an introduction and followed by a conclusion. The researcher addressed all levels of language in the thesis.

The thesis concluded with a summary of the most important results obtained by the researcher. The study revealed that Sheikh Qasim Muhyiddin is a scientific encyclopedia and one of the rare scientific figures of his time. His method of composing Ghareeb is considered new, as he had his own unique approach in combining prose and poetry.

The defense committee consisted of the following members:

• Professor Dr. Abdulhassan Jadoa Abdul from the University of Kufa, College of Arts, as a member.
• Professor Dr. Mohammed Nuri Al-Mousawi from the University of Babylon, College of Education for Human Sciences, as a member.
• Professor Dr. Muayyad Jassim Mohammed from the University of Karbala, College of Islamic Sciences, as a member.
• Assistant Professor Dr. Maali Hashim Ali from the University of Karbala, College of Islamic Sciences, as a member.
• Professor Dr. Wafa Abbas Fayyad from the University of Karbala, College of Islamic Sciences, as a member and supervisor.
