Dr. Wafa Abbas Fayyad, a faculty member at the College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Karbala, has published a book titled “Linguistic and Grammatical Investigations in the Insights of the Discerning in the Exquisite Aspects of the Noble Quran by al-Fayruzabadi (718 AH)” through Dar al-Sadiq Cultural Foundation. The book spans 385 pages.
The “Insights” are part of a series of studies that focus on the unique vocabulary of the Quran. Despite the valuable content of this book, it remained relatively unknown to many researchers, possibly due to the scarcity of printed copies or the reliance on previous linguistic Quranic studies. Therefore, this study attempts to showcase this wealth by organizing it according to scientific research methodology.
The book is structured with an introduction and a preface divided into two sections. The first section presents the life and works of al-Fayruzabadi, while the second section explains the reasons behind the composition of the “Insights” and explores the meanings of the book’s terminology. The main body consists of five chapters: the first chapter discusses the methodology of the “Insights” in terms of resources, evidence, and general linguistic terminology. The second chapter covers phonetic investigations, the third chapter focuses on morphological investigations, the fourth chapter delves into grammatical investigations, and the fifth chapter discusses semantic investigations. The book concludes with a conclusion summarizing the general and specific findings.
