A delegation of professors and students from the Department of Quranic Sciences and Islamic Education at the College of Islamic Sciences, University of Karbala, conducted a scientific field visit to the Karbala Martyrs Directorate. They were warmly received by the Directorate’s Director, Mr. Ahmed Abis Abu Tihin, along with several department and division officials.
The visit aimed to educate students about the human rights violations and crimes committed by the former Baathist regime against the Iraqi people, shedding light on the suffering and sacrifices of the victims.
The tour included a visit to the Jannat Al-Shuhada Cemetery, which contains the remains of 2,317 unidentified martyrs who endured brutal oppression with patience and fortitude. The delegation also explored the Directorate’s museum, showcasing the belongings of martyrs and various documents condemning the previous regime, as well as a photo exhibition commemorating the martyrs.
The visit concluded with a welcoming ceremony, during which Dr. Dhul-Fiqar Al-Moussawi, the department’s rapporteur, delivered a speech expressing gratitude for the warm reception and commending the Martyrs Foundation’s efforts in serving the families of martyrs and promoting the values of sacrifice and martyrdom in society.
