Assistant Professor Dr. Essam Radi Hassoun Al-Masoudi, a faculty member at the College of Islamic Sciences, University of Karbala, has published a new scholarly book titled Conversational Implicature in Quranic Narratives, released by Al-Sadiq Cultural Publishing House.

The book spans 285 pages and is divided into three chapters that explore and analyze one of the modern pragmatic concepts gaining attention in Iraqi literary circles—conversational implicature.

In the book’s introduction, Dr. Al-Masoudi notes that this topic remains relatively new in the field of literary research in Iraq, and its terminology is not yet fully stabilized within the pragmatic field. This prompted him to conduct an in-depth reading of the theory and adopt an analytical framework that aligns with the study’s goals and the author’s vision.

The author aims to develop a new analytical method to understand the complex and implicit dialogues found in Quranic stories, in order to uncover the implied and inferred meanings embedded within the Quranic texts.

This work represents a significant academic contribution to the field of Quranic studies and pragmatic analysis, opening new avenues for researchers interested in linguistics and modern literary criticism.
