Assistant Professor Dr. Mawahib Saleh Mahdi, a faculty member at the College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Karbala, participated in a cultural evening organized by the Cultural Attaché of the Iranian Consulate in Karbala, held by the department responsible for supporting academic students residing in Iraq.
Dr. Mawahib Al-Khatib delivered a speech during the evening titled “Women in the Orbit of the Sun of Suns”, in which she discussed the active role of contemporary women in upholding Islamic principles through cultural and intellectual engagement. She drew from the life of Imam Ali ibn Musa al-Ridha (peace be upon him), particularly by exploring the lives of eight women who had a spiritual and intellectual connection with him. They are:
- al-Sayyida Hamida al-Musaffah – the grandmother of Imam al-Ridha and wife of Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq (peace be upon him)
- al-Sayyida Taktum – his mother
- al-Sayyida Fatima al-Ma’suma – his sister
- al-Sayyida Fatima – his daughter, according to some narrations
- al-Sayyida Sabeeka al-Nubiyya – his wife and the mother of Imam al-Jawad (peace be upon him)
- al-Sayyida Tahura bint Abi al-Salt al-Harawi
- al-Sayyida Hubaba al-Walibiyya
- al-Sayyida Gowharshad
Dr. Mawahib emphasized that these women were like lights radiating from the light of Imam al-Ridha (peace be upon him) and that they contributed significantly to the transmission of religious knowledge and the consolidation of Islamic values across generations.
