Assistant Professor Dr. Khalid Abdul-Nabi, a faculty member at the College of Islamic Sciences, University of Karbala, has published a thought-provoking article titled “Ashura… More Than Just Religious Rituals” on the Al-Naba Information Network. The article explores the profound intellectual and humanitarian dimensions of Imam Hussein’s (peace be upon him) uprising.

In his article, Dr. Khalid emphasizes that Ashura should not be confined solely to ritualistic expressions such as mourning, lamentation, and elegy—though these remain integral aspects. Rather, it represents a comprehensive revolution against oppression and tyranny and stands as a symbol of dignity, honor, and courage.
This publication reflects the College’s ongoing academic contributions to enriching the intellectual discourse on the Hussaini cause, fostering cultural and humanitarian awareness, and offering scholarly perspectives on the enduring significance of the Ashura movement.
