The College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Karbala Holds Its Annual Festival on the Occasion of the National Day of the Holy Qur’an

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Karbala, Prof. Dr. Sabah Wajid, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Islamic Sciences, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Hussein Aboud Al-Taie, the Student Activities Division at the College of Islamic Sciences held its annual festival on the occasion of the National Day of the Holy Qur’an, with wide participation from faculty members and students.

The festival aimed to enhance Qur’anic awareness, consolidate Islamic and humanitarian values derived from the Holy Qur’an, and encourage students to adhere to its noble teachings and adopt them as a way of life.

The festival program included the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an by the student reciter Haider Tayi’, followed by standing for the national anthem, and then the recitation of Surah Al-Fatiha in mercy for the souls of the righteous martyrs.

After that, the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Hussein Aboud Al-Taie, delivered a speech in which he highlighted the importance of the Holy Qur’an in building the individual and society, and the role of academic institutions in spreading its culture and deepening its concepts among students.
The President of the University, Prof. Dr. Sabah Wajid, also delivered a speech emphasizing the University of Karbala’s commitment to supporting Qur’anic and cultural activities that contribute to strengthening Islamic identity and promoting moral and scientific values within the university community.

The festival also featured the screening of a documentary film about the Holy Qur’an, followed by a Qur’anic competition for students. At the conclusion of the event, prizes were distributed to the winners in recognition of their participation and excellence.

The festival was hosted by the faculty member of the Department of Arabic Language, Prof. Dr. Safaa Hussein Latif, who contributed to the success of the festival’s segments and added a distinctive cultural character to its activities.
