College of Islamic Sciences Organizes Voluntary Tree-Planting Campaign in Support of Environmental Sustainability

As part of the executive plan for the National Strategy for Iraqi Women (2026), specifically the fifth pillar focused on enhancing the role of women in climate change risk management and environmental protection, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Islamic Sciences, University of Karbala, implemented a voluntary project. This initiative was carried out in cooperation with students from the Department of Jurisprudence and its Foundations and the college’s Agricultural Unit.

The activity involved a campaign to plant trees and expand green spaces within the college gardens, aiming to create an aesthetic appearance befitting the university environment and to preserve greenery. Furthermore, it sought to promote concepts of natural environmental sustainability among students and the academic community.

The campaign also aimed to raise awareness about the importance of environmental protection and active participation in preserving natural resources by involving students in voluntary work. Such efforts contribute to supporting the university environment and fostering a culture of teamwork and social responsibility.

The initiative saw active participation from students of the Department of Jurisprudence and its Foundations, alongside the dedicated efforts of the Agricultural Unit. Together, they ensured the success of the initiative and the fulfillment of its environmental and awareness goals, reinforcing the role of women and academic institutions in supporting environmental causes and sustainable development.
