An annual festival organized by the Arabic Language Department at the College of Islamic Sciences on the occasion of the International Arabic Language Day

Under the auspices of the Dean of the College of Islamic Sciences, Prof. Dr. Dhurgham Karim Al-Musawi, and with the honor of the Head of the Arabic Language Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Safaa Hussein Latif, the department held its annual festival on the occasion of Dhad Day, the International Day of the Arabic Language, which falls on December 18 of each year.

The festival that was held at Imam Hussein Hall (PBUH) at ten o’clock on Sunday, corresponding to 12/18/2022
It included activities related to poetry, calligraphy, rhetoric and creative writing. It aims to support and enhance the existence of the Arabic language and highlight its importance, depth and enrichment of global culture, and its role in the cultural and linguistic construction of nations, thus contributing to the promotion of human rapprochement between peoples.

The festival, whose teaching custodian in the Department of Jurisprudence and its Principles, Mr. Khaled Abd al-Nabi Ali, included a number of various activities and events, as it started with verses from the Holy Qur’an to the student reader Haidar Muhammad, followed by the speech of the scientific assistant Prof. Dr. Muslim Al-Asadi and the speech of the department delivered by the assistant professor Dr. It sheds light on the richness of the Arabic language and its ability to express various intellectual patterns

Poems were recited on this occasion by the guest of the festival, the poet Dr. Ghaith Al-Fatawi, Professor Dr. Abboud Judy Al-Hali, and Professor Dr. Amjad Al-Fadhel. The poems sang the love of the Arabic language and showed its majesty and genius. For his part, the Head of the Arabic Language Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Safaa Hussein Latif, mentioned that the interest in language and culture Arabic is a necessity for many reasons. It is the root of our personality and the basis of our identity. It is our expression of our joys and sorrows. It is also our history and our path to excellence, stressing that it has characteristics that distinguish it from other languages.

The celebration also included student participation, in addition to artistic performances from the creations of the teacher in the Department of Arabic Language, Dr. Mashkour Al-Talqani, and the creations of the students of the department. The festival concluded with the distribution of certificates of appreciation to the participating professors and students.
