The Arabic Language Department – Functional Grammar Unit organized an online workshop on Functional Grammar, its principles, and its applications. The workshop hosted Dr. Ismahan Mezzane from Wadi Souf University, Faculty of Arts and Languages in Algeria.
Dr. Ismahan provided a comprehensive summary defining the term and its connection to philosophical thought, highlighting its concepts and its role as a driving force in Darwin’s theory of evolution and development of the term.
Then, Dr. Ismahan discussed the principles mentioned by Dr. Ahmed Al-Mutawakil and illustrated their applications with appropriate examples. She also emphasized the differences between Functional Grammar and non-functional grammar, showcasing examples from various aspects of grammar.
The workshop witnessed the distinguished presence of Arab and Iraqi professors, enriching the workshop with their valuable contributions.
