The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Islamic Sciences, University of Karbala, organized a seminar on “Elections and the Women’s Quota System.” The seminar featured lectures by Professor Dr. Maytham Hussein Al-Shafei and Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Jassim Al-Tarfi.

The event aimed to explain Iraq’s electoral system and the concept of the women’s quota. Discussions centered on Article 20, which emphasizes equality between women and men in candidacy and political rights, including voting, nominating, and running for office. It also highlights the allocation of seats for women in legislative bodies and calls for political parties to ensure women’s representation at all levels.
