The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Islamic Sciences, University of Karbala, organized a scientific symposium titled: “Together to Confront Violence Against Women – Towards a Cohesive Family and a Secure Future.”

The symposium targeted fourth-year students and coincided with the campaign against violence toward women. It was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Alaa Abdul-Kadhim Al-Kuraity and moderated by Assistant Professor Dr. Intidhar Jawad Kadhim.

The symposium aimed to eliminate all forms of discrimination and violence against women in society and address the economic, social, and psychological impacts of such violence. It highlighted various forms of abuse, including control, humiliation, insult, threats, isolation, and intimidation.

The symposium recommended increasing religious, moral, and educational awareness of women’s rights, organizing media campaigns to combat this phenomenon, and holding workshops and seminars to raise awareness about violence against women. Additionally, it emphasized the need to review and develop legal systems and regulations that govern how women are treated in society.
