College of Islamic Sciences Organizes Memorial Ceremony for Sayida Umm al-Banin

The Women’s Affairs Unit, in collaboration with the Department of Arabic Language at the College of Islamic Sciences, University of Karbala, organized a memorial ceremony titled “Umm al-Banin: The Door of Needs, and Guardian of Patience and Loyalty.”

The event began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by the reciter Haider Al-Mahdawi, followed by the recitation of Al-Fatiha in memory of the martyrs. Then, Dr. Sarmad Al-Hassanawi, the Assistant Professor and representative of the Head of the Arabic Language Department, delivered a speech emphasizing the role of Lady Umm al-Banin and the sacrifices she made to revive the faith and support the word of Allah.

The ceremony also included a religious lecture by Dr. Abdul Salam Aziz, who shed light on the honorable history of this noble lady and her sacrifices for the sake of the Ahlul-Bayt (PBUH) and the Islamic message. She sacrificed her four sons, the dearest to her, to support Imam Hussain (PBUH) during the Battle of Karbala and uphold the word of Allah. The lecture also highlighted the special honors Allah granted Lady Umm al-Banin due to her virtuous stances in supporting the true faith and standing against falsehood.

The memorial ceremony concluded with an elegiac poem by Assistant Professor Dr. Mashkoor Hanoon Al-Talqani, before the attendees were invited to a luncheon.
