The College of Islamic Sciences organized a specialized training course titled “Strategies of Educational Linguistic Discourse in the Classroom.” The course was delivered by a select group of faculty members, including:
- Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Hassan Mansour
- Dr. Essam Al-Masoudi
- Assistant Lecturer Basim Jabbar Rahi Al-Asadi
The course focused on the importance of developing educational discourse skills among teaching staff, highlighting its direct impact on conveying knowledge and achieving effective communication with students inside the classroom.
The lecturers emphasized that the educational process is based on three core elements: the teacher (speaker), the learner (listener), and the educational content (message), asserting that the success of this system relies on the integration and harmony of these roles.
The course analyzed and elaborated on the most prominent strategies of linguistic discourse, including:
- The Directive Strategy: Used by the teacher to guide the learner through advice, instruction, and warnings, employing various linguistic tools such as direct commands like “know” and “understand,” which enhance attentiveness and encourage responsiveness.
- The Persuasive Strategy: A technical skill that enables the speaker to influence the listener’s reasoning and convince them of the message’s content, thereby fostering understanding and positive engagement with the educational material.
The course aimed to empower teaching staff with effective linguistic skills that contribute to reshaping and delivering information in a manner that suits the diverse levels and individual differences of students.
