In the College of Islamic Sciences, University of Karbala, a discussion of the master’s thesis tagged “Sawraf the Interpretive Understanding of the Holy Qur’an at the Imamiyyah” was held – an analytical study. The student, Murtada Muhammad Ali Al-Tajer, at nine o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, corresponding to 30/5/2023, in the hall of Al-Sadiq Al-Amin (may God’s prayers be upon him and his family) in the college.

In his letter, the researcher pointed out that the accuracy of His words, the multiplicity of their meanings, and their inclusion of the specific, the general, the precise, the ambiguous, the general, and the clear… make their interpretation not easy, although some of His verses are clear indicative.

The book included verses with precise meanings, so that it appears to the beholder that they are contradictory, and this is what necessitates the interpreter to put controls and scales to resolve that conflict, and some verses are distracted from their apparent meaning.

Accordingly, the verses’ divergence from their appearance is one of the types of interpretation of the Qur’anic text, and this type is what is specialized in this research and singled out the study to stand on its origins, its causes, evidence, how it is, the differences of the interpreters in it and its authority, which is what we will stand on in the interpretations of the Imamiyyah.

The discussion committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Husayn Abboud from the University of Karbala – College of Islamic Sciences – Chairman. Prof. Dr. Ali Magdi Allawi from Al-Mustansiriya University – College of Basic Education – Member and Lecturer Dr. Salem Gary Huda from Karbala University – College of Islamic Sciences – Member and Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Nazim Al-Mafarji from Karbala University – College of Islamic Sciences, member and supervisor.
