The College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Karbala discusses the verses of rulings between standardization and creativity

The master’s thesis titled “Verses of Rulings between Standardization and Creativity: An Analytical Study” by student Faten Mazhar Hadi was discussed at the College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Karbala.

In this study, the researcher attempted to identify general phenomena related to verses of rulings, such as common interpretations among scholars and jurists. She traced their opinions and methodologies, including those who adopted specific criteria for understanding verses of rulings and stopped at a certain number, deriving legal rulings from them. Others went beyond that, embracing creativity in their jurisprudential deductions and not limiting themselves to a specific number. This is because the texts are finite, while the realities they address are infinite. The essence of creativity in this study lies in benefiting from the rulings derived from Quranic narrative verses, proverbial verses, and moral verses, as well as utilizing all the verses of the Noble Qur’an in the field of jurisprudential deduction.

The thesis defense committee consisted of the following members:

  1. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Hussein Abboud from the University of Karbala, College of Islamic Sciences, as the Chairperson.
  2. Assist. Prof. Dr. Ashwaq Saeed Ridini from the University of Baghdad, College of Education for Women, as a member.
