College of Islamic Sciences at University of Karbala Holds Seminar on Human Development and Women’s Social Empowerment

As part of its commitment to participation and institutional reform, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Islamic Sciences, University of Karbala, organized a scientific seminar titled “Human Development and Its Role in Women’s Social Empowerment,” presented by Prof. Dr. Nahida Jalil Al-Ghalibi, the college’s liaison officer.

The seminar highlighted the importance of human development in empowering women and providing them with the necessary opportunities and resources to enhance their effective participation in various spheres of life—economic, social, and political. The speaker emphasized that empowering women involves ensuring their human rights in education, healthcare, employment, and decision-making, thus enabling them to become a productive force in society and key contributors to cultural transmission and guiding future generations.

The seminar concluded with a set of key recommendations:

  1. Enhancing women’s roles in education and culture.
  2. Encouraging their active participation in politics and decision-making.
  3. Supporting their contributions in healthcare and community care.
  4. Promoting women’s rights and achieving gender equality.
  5. Strengthening women’s involvement in community development efforts.
