As part of the “Study in Iraq” initiative launched by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to attract international students to Iraqi universities, the College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Karbala discussed the master’s thesis submitted by Syrian student Ayman Aql Rajoub, titled:
“Verses of Attributes in Al-Amthal Exegesis: An Analytical Study.”

The thesis presented an analytical study of the verses of attributes in the Holy Qur’an, starting with the attributes of Allah Almighty, followed by the attributes of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his progeny), other prophets, the Qur’an itself, the Day of Judgment, angels, and Satan. The research relied on the tafsir Al-Amthal by Sheikh Naser Makarem Shirazi, chosen by the researcher for its modernity, clarity of style, and the limited number of academic studies devoted to it.

The researcher employed an objective analytical methodology, comparing views of other exegetes, while highlighting the theological and educational dimensions of the verses of attributes as interpreted in Al-Amthal.

At the conclusion of the defense, the student expressed his gratitude to Iraq and the University of Karbala, praising the generous reception and academic support he received, and affirming that adherence to the Qur’an remains the path to salvation for the Muslim Ummah in every era.

The thesis received commendation from the examination committee for its methodological clarity and scholarly rigor, and the committee recommended awarding the student a Master’s degree in Qur’anic Sciences and Exegesis.
