A faculty member at the College of Islamic Sciences, University of Karbala, Dr. Mawaheb Al-Khatib, participated in the second day of the Ferdowsi University Conference – Faculty of Theology, by presenting an academic paper entitled “The Rationality of Resistance in Light of the Holy Qur’an.” She delivered the paper and took part actively in its discussion with researchers and specialists.
The paper addressed the concept of the rationality of resistance within Qur’anic discourse, emphasizing that the Holy Qur’an presents a balanced and rational approach that does not call for submission or humiliation. At the same time, it establishes ethical and humanitarian principles governing resistance and defines its various forms, which are not limited to armed resistance, as this is considered a last resort.
The study demonstrated that the Holy Qur’an calls for scientific and industrial excellence and for building cognitive and civilizational strength, in a manner that prevents arrogant powers from oppressing Muslims, as expressed in the Almighty’s saying: “So that the disbelievers may have no way over the believers.”
The study concluded that the Holy Qur’an presents an integrated theory of resistance that guarantees human freedom and dignity, rejects oppression and subjugation, and outlines a clear path for confronting submission. This approach achieves human integration across various fields and affirms that humanity should be devoted to God alone. It also underscores the responsibility of Muslims to lift injustice from the oppressed and liberate them from subjugation, based on the Almighty’s saying: “And what is [the matter] with you that you do not fight in the cause of Allah and for the oppressed among men, women, and children…”
The paper received considerable attention and engagement from conference participants, due to its academic depth and its integration of Qur’anic authenticity with a contemporary rational perspective.
