Third-year students of the Department of Arabic Language at the College of Islamic Sciences, Sections (B) and (D), participated in a literary debate under the supervision of Professor Dr. Nours Ibrahim Abdulhadi. The debate addressed the literary figure of Badi‘ al-Zaman al-Hamadhani and his contributions to Arabic literature.
The debate witnessed a fruitful academic exchange of questions among the students, accompanied by in-depth discussions of the intellectual and artistic themes related to the genre of maqāmāt, particularly aspects connected to literature of beggary (adab al-kadiyah) during the Abbasid era. The discussion highlighted the stylistic and intellectual characteristics of this genre and its social and cultural implications.
The activity aimed to develop students’ dialogue and literary criticism skills, enhance their abilities in analysis and academic discussion, and link theoretical study with practical application, thereby contributing to a deeper understanding of the Arabic literary heritage.
