The Department of Qur’anic Sciences and Islamic Education at the College of Islamic Sciences, University of Karbala, held the First International Conference on the Heritage of Imam Ali ibn Musa al-Ridha (A), in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Holy Shrine of Imam al-Husayn. The conference took place in the Khatam al-Anbiya Hall within the holy shrine on Saturday, 29 November 2025, with a wide academic and cultural attendance from professors and researchers inside and outside Iraq.
The conference was held under the title:
“A Glimpse from the Sun of Suns, and Breezes from the Land of Tus,”
and adopted as its motto the saying of Imam al-Ridha (A):
“Seek knowledge from its cradle, and take it from its people.”
This reflected the deep scholarly and intellectual connection with the Imam’s heritage and his approach to disseminating Islamic knowledge.
The conference featured the presentation of seventy scholarly papers, distributed across four research sessions within five main themes, including:
- Intellectual and doctrinal studies
- Linguistic and literary studies
- Political and historical studies
- Jurisprudential and fundamental studies
- Qur’anic and educational studies
The participating research papers highlighted the scholarly and intellectual legacy of Imam al-Ridha (A) and his role in shaping the foundations of the Islamic school, as well as strengthening the methodology of Ahl al-Bayt (A) in dialogue, knowledge, and intellectual development.
The conference aims to revive the scientific heritage of Imam al-Ridha (A), deepen specialized studies on his personality and intellectual school, and motivate researchers to produce rigorous studies that contribute to the development of Qur’anic and Islamic knowledge.
This conference comes as part of the College of Islamic Sciences’ efforts to enhance scientific cooperation with the Holy Shrine of Imam al-Husayn and expand avenues of academic research in ways that serve the community and reinforce authentic Islamic and intellectual identity.
