The Women Empowerment Unit at the College of Islamic Sciences, University of Karbala, organized its online awareness seminar under the slogan “Together to Create a Harassment-Free Environment” with the theme of “The Woman’s Chastity: A Strong Fortress Against Harassment.”
The speakers, Dr. Ibrahim Hussein Al-Astar and Dr. Dhulfiqar Adel Al-Mousawi, addressed several important issues, including defining the origins of the term “harassment” and its corresponding terms in the Quran. They also discussed contemporary theories that have evaluated this phenomenon while noting the Quranic insights and observations about it.
The seminar concluded with important recommendations, including the necessity for Muslim women to emulate their spiritual role model, Lady Fatimah (peace be upon her). Contemporary women should align their views with the standards set by Lady Fatimah (peace be upon her), while emphasizing the need to activate effective social and legal monitoring mechanisms to combat harassment.
