Professors from the College of Islamic Sciences took part in a course organized by the Division of Arabic Language and Literature, affiliated with the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein. The course, titled “Text Verification: Between Reality and the Ideal Approach,” was held for members of the Arabic Manuscript Verification Unit.
The course included a lecture titled “An Introduction to the Concept of Text Verification and the Qualities of a Verifier,” delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Ali Al-Rubaie, head of the division. Among the attendees were several prominent academics, including Professor Dr. Moayad Al-Khafaji, Assistant Professor Dr. Khalid Abdul Nabi Al-Asadi, and Assistant Professor Dr. Hassan Al-Zuhairi, Editor-in-Chief of Usratuna Journal, in addition to Mr. Ahmed Talib Al-Gharifi and several staff members from the verification unit.
The course aimed to provide a detailed explanation of the concept of text verification, outlining its methodologies and tools, as well as strategies for accessing the author’s intended version of the text or coming as close as possible. The session also addressed the distinction between theoretical and applied approaches to verification in order to achieve optimal outcomes.
