Discussing a PhD thesis in the College of Islamic Sciences on the authority of Orientalism in contemporary Quranic studies

A doctoral dissertation entitled (The Authority of Orientalism in Contemporary Qur’anic Studies – A Critical Study) was discussed in the College of Islamic Sciences, Karbala University, by the student Ali Shaker Salman Makroud, at nine o’clock in the morning on Sunday, 5/28/2023, in the hall of Imam Hussein (PBUH) in the college .

The thesis comes to prove the authority of orientalists in contemporary Quranic studies, opens the door for scholars to delve into this scientific field and direct their attention towards monitoring this thought, especially since the researcher had previously examined the methods used by orientalists to achieve their goals, including preparing researchers from the same heritage in order to achieve their goals Orientalism, and accordingly, the motives are available in this type of studies and the ground is prepared, in addition to deepening the understanding of the new researchers in Quranic studies about the extent of the hand of Orientalism and its penetration into the propositions of the pioneers of the contemporary Quranic study; Rather, his ability to effect the intended influence on their thoughts and ideas until it came to them that they repeat Western propositions in a new form and follow in their footsteps in the study of Islamic heritage, and this deep understanding helps to correct the path of those studies.
