
Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Mohammed Hussein Aboud Al-Ta’i, Dean of the College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Karbala, a joint scientific and cultural symposium was held at the Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) Hall between the College of Islamic Sciences and its counterpart at Shiraz University, as part of the implementation of the academic and cultural memorandum of understanding signed between the two institutions.
The symposium began with a speech by Assistant Professor Dr. Mawahib Saleh Mahdi, Head of the Cultural Activities Unit at the College, who provided a brief explanation of the main points of the memorandum, emphasizing the importance of academic cooperation and the exchange of expertise between the two universities.
The program included a practical application of one of the memorandum’s provisions through a scientific and cultural seminar titled:
“The Sciences of Rhetoric: Selected Applications from Nahj al-Balagha.”
It was presented by Professor Dr. Amjad Al-Fadel from the Iraqi side, and by Professor Dr. Afrin Zare’ from Shiraz University, Iran, via an online platform. The session was moderated by Assistant Professor Dr. Khalid Abdul-Nabi Al-Asadi.
The symposium witnessed distinguished attendance, including the Dean of the College, the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, and the Head of the Arabic Language Department, as well as several professors and postgraduate students, who praised the scientific focus of the symposium and its rhetorical insights drawn from Nahj al-Balagha.
This symposium is part of a series of academic activities aimed at enhancing scientific and cultural exchange between the College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Karbala and regional and international universities.
