The Women’s Affairs Units at the Colleges of Islamic Sciences and Nursing Organize a Cultural Seminar Marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Islamic Sciences, in collaboration with the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Nursing at the University of Karbala, organized a joint cultural seminar as part of the national strategy to combat violence against women. The seminar was titled:
“The Qur’anic Narrative Framework in Shaping Women’s Dignity and Confronting Intellectual Violence — The Biography of Lady Fatima al-Zahra (A) as a Model,” held in conjunction with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

The seminar targeted staff members and students from both colleges. The presenters discussed Qur’anic principles derived from narrative accounts that aim to reinforce women’s dignity, highlighting inspiring examples of prominent women in Islamic history—foremost among them Lady Fatima al-Zahra (A)—as a model of awareness, dignity, and resilience in confronting intellectual and social violence.

The seminar also addressed the pivotal role of Qur’anic narrative references in building a value-based framework that protects women from symbolic and psychological violence and strengthens their active role in society, emphasizing that intellectual and moral empowerment constitutes the first line of defense against all forms of violence.
